Tvorba konceptuálně orientovaného umělce Matěje Smetany je výsostně spekulativní. Řadě jeho děl jako by předcházely otázky „co by nastalo, kdyby…“, „co by znamenalo, kdyby…“, „jak by to vypadalo, kdyby…“ atp. Umělecká práce je následně výsledkem co nejdůslednějšího převodu tohoto prvotního impulzu do vizuální podoby. To je i případ sedmiminutové animace „Nemáš ani tušení“, v níž k nám rozvážně promlouvají slané vody Atlantiku. S nadsázkou sobě vlastní v ní Smetana navrhuje, co by nám o sobě oceán řekl, kdyby nám něco chtěl povědět.
V textu ke Smetanově nedávné výstavě v Galerii moderního umění v Hradci Králové upozornil její kurátor Martin Fišr na důležitou skutečnost, že latinský výraz anima znamená duši, takže „animovat znamená dávat duši, oživit“. Také v „Nemáš ani tušení“ je vodní živel nadán duší. Podobá se té lidské: reflektuje své okolí a sama sebe v něm, má paměť a promlouvá k nám o tom lidskou řečí. Jistá nesnadnost porozumět jeho slovům jako by odpovídala nesnadnosti hlouběji porozumět neverbálním signálům, která k nám z celého ne-lidského světa doléhají. Umění je vedle vědy a duchovních nauk jednou z platforem, jak tyto signály interpretovat.

The work of conceptually oriented artist Matěj Smetana is highly speculative in nature. Many of his works seem to be preceded by questions such as "what would happen if…", "what would it mean if…", "what would it look like if…" and so on. The artwork is then the result of translating this initial impulse into visual form as rigorously as possible. This is also the case with the seven-minute animation "You Have No Idea," in which the salt waters of the Atlantic speak to us deliberately and thoughtfully. With his characteristic sense of irony, Smetana proposes what the ocean might tell us about itself if it had something to say.
In the text accompanying Smetana's recent exhibition at the Gallery of Modern Art in Hradec Králové, curator Martin Fišr pointed out the important fact that the Latin word anima means soul, so "to animate means to give a soul, to bring to life." In "You Have No Idea" as well, the water element is endowed with a soul. It resembles the human soul: it reflects its surroundings and itself within them, it has memory, and it speaks to us about this in human language. A certain difficulty in understanding its words seems to correspond to the difficulty of more deeply understanding the non-verbal signals reaching us from the entire non-human world. Alongside science and spiritual teachings, art is one of the platforms through which these signals can be interpreted.
